Non-profit senior Breyahna Avery — "I started at Santa Monica College. At that time, I was a business major. All the classes were the bottom line of making money. As I started to look at society and what the different problems are, I realized that life was more than the bottom line. I still like the business aspect, but I wanted to find something that gives back. So I saw a commercial about non-profit and found a social and business piece to it."

"I volunteered at the Children Museum of Phoenix. Prior to coming here to Arizona, I worked as a recreation assistant. The museum engages students to play while also learning at the same time. I didn't want to be a 'playologist,' I wanted to do something behind the scenes. Eventually I want to open up my own non-profit organization or social enterprise that deal with a lot of youth or people who are oppressed. Just to get people out of poverty and social situations."

Kinesiology sophomore Ryan Klumpp — "I've always been in sports my whole life. I was injured a lot and people helped me. I want to do that to others and help them out."

"I honestly want to work with the wounded soldiers. Ones that have had their body parts injured in their workforce. My whole family has been in the military, so helping it would be like helping family and the country."

Non-profit leadership and management senior Bayan Dwaik — "I chose non-profit because of the area I'm from in the Middle East. There seems to be a lot of problems except that people are leaning toward the stem part and it's not what we need right now. I first considered going into political science but I don't have the charisma, it's not my niche."

"There aren't many universities that offer non-profit as an undergraduate degree. I am applying for internships in the Palestinian territories. I don't know where my future is leading me though, but yes I do want to go back to the East. Within my extended family, you know uncles and aunts, I found out that my family is very privileged compared to the people that live around us. That made me want to help other people because I am in a position of privilege and I have a duty to give back to the community that made me reach up to this position."

Criminal Justice junior Brandon Poninski — "My dad is a retired police officer, and my brother is an active police officer. It's always been something I've been interested in. I like the challenge of it and the investigations to help people."

"Specifically, if I were to stay local I would work up to sergeant and work beyond the S.W.A.T team. However, ultimately I want to work on the federal level and do the FBI, US Marshall. I like Arizona, I am pretty new here. I'd like to stay here but if I were to go into the FBI, they could locate you anywhere. I would really like to do an internship with the FBI. I went to the Maricopa Sheriff office, did a field training and acted doing certain positions, it was fun.

Public service and policy senior Denise Huynh — "I've always been passionate about helping others and society to give back to the community. I feel like this degree will help me further that. Not only write about it but to implement the change. After this I want to look into my masters for social work. I am also passionate about music, singing and writing music. Somehow tying music and its spectrum to help people, like music therapy."

"Last Spring, my friends were campaigning for DPC Aware, I was really passionate and into all that. I was then connected through DP aware. Went to meetings to check it out and became very interested. It's my last year so then I ran for a position and now I am the director of fundraising. I love their mission and everything. Our current campaign is Live to Give."
