Sun Devil Snapshot: ASU softball, baseball each get walk-off home runs

1 — Senior first baseman Bethany Kemp's first career grand slam came in walk-off fashion. ASU upset No. 4 Oklahoma 8-4 on Sunday after losing to the Sooners on Saturday.

4:30.77 — Mile time for senior Shelby Houlihan in the Wanamaker Mile, a school record. She finished seventh in the race, but was the highest collegiate finisher and has the second-fastest time in the NCAA this season.

6 — Runs Oklahoma State scored in the third inning of Sunday's game. The early hole was too much for ASU to overcome, but the Sun Devils still won the series 2-1.

6-1 — Margin that ASU tennis defeated BYU on Valentine's Day. Senior Joanna Smith lost her first set 1-6, but won the second 7-6 and third 7-5 to win the point for ASU.

8.3 — Three-point percentage Oregon shot against the ASU women's basketball team. The Sun Devils' strength is its defense, and it entered Sunday's game fifth in Division I, allowing 24.9 percent from 3-point range.

9 — Runs ASU softball scored in the third inning against North Texas, essentially icing the game.

9 — Amount of Golfstat Top 15 schools that competed with the ASU women in the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge. Unranked Baylor actually captured the team title while the Sun Devils finished seventh.

20 — Consecutive wins for wrestling redshirt junior Blake Stauffer on the mat. He has 70 wins in his career, but the Sun Devils were routed 27-6 against No. 8 Iowa State.

25 — Saves for ASU closer Ryan Burr in his career, tying the Sun Devil career record. Burr escaped a jam in ASU's season opener with runners at second and third with nobody out, and picked up the win in after Colby Woodmansee hit a walk-off home run. Burr has seven strikeouts in 3.1 innings.

47 — Points junior guard Gerry Blakes scored for the ASU men’s basketball team in their trip to Washington over two games. Leading up to the road trip, Blakes was averaging 8.1 points per game in Pac-12 play.

78 — Career home runs for Oklahoma’s Lauren Chamberlain after hitting one against ASU freshman Breanna Macha. She needs 12 more home runs to tie Stacey Nuveman’s NCAA mark, which is certainly attainable given she hit 30 in each of her first two seasons.

10,360 — Fans who saw ASU baseball open its season at Phoenix Municipal Stadium against Oklahoma State. ASU averaged 2,844 last season at Packard.
