On March 14, Boston duo Aer will open up the day for artists such as Kendrick Lamar and Kongos at the Pot of Gold music festival at Tempe Beach Park.

Aer is composed of David von Mering and Carter Schultz. The duo produces an interesting mix of rap, reggae, pop and indie rock music.

To get a feel for just how exciting and talented the duo is, check out the band's music videos for "Floats my Boat" and "Says She Loves Me." The album, "The Bright Side," independently rose to the No. 1 spot on the iTunes Albums chart.

"We were given an offer for the festival," Shultz said. "We've played in Tempe and in Phoenix and y'all like to party."

If you haven't already bought tickets for Pot of Gold, do it now before it's too late. If not for all four days, just spend the money for Saturday because it's going to be a party.

"This next (album) is going to be another unexpected yet awesome move that people are going to talk about," von Mering said.

Other artists for Saturday's lineup include Slightly Stoopid, Schoolboy Q and Dirty Heads.

Pot of Gold is a big opportunity for Aer, as they will be playing with some of the biggest artists of today, some of which the duo lists as influences.

"Yes, definitely, we were lucky enough to do a few shows with Slightly Stoopid," Schultz said. "They were definitely a big influence growing up, always inspired by them."

In the 2012 album, the band finishes its song, "Float my Boat" with “What’s up ladies and gentleman, this is the bright side. Summer of 2012, if it’s 2040, raise the volume. Fresh AER movement."

I think it is safe to say that they will be relevant way past 2040 as they keep up with the current trends while keeping true to a unique style.

"We are bringing something new, so it's something fresh," von Mering said. "We are very consistent because we make a lot of music. So it sums up how we approach this thing.

Von Mering added that Aer will be heavily involved with summer music festivals.

"We are doing crazy festivals, going to be all over the place," he said. "This summer is going to be one of the best!"

That being said, keep your eyes out for this duo either as the opening band for Saturday's lineup on stage or over this summer. They are definitely a feel-good and high energy performing group and it would be worth your time to check them out.

"Our energy is going to be ridiculous," von Mering said. "People have been talking about this festival so it's going to be f---ing crazy. We are going to bring it."
