Promise Amukamara completed the home state trifecta after being selected by the Phoenix Mercury on Thursday.

Amukamara was selected with the 36th pick in the draft, the final selection in the third round of the 2015 WNBA Draft.

Amukamara went to Apollo High School in Glendale and played in all of ASU women's basketball's 131 games over four seasons.

She was the catalyst to ASU's defense, being named to the Pac-12 all-defensive team in the past two seasons. Amukamara averaged 10.9 points and 1.8 steals in 2014-15 on an ASU team that went to the Sweet 16.

Amukamara is the first Sun Devil to be drafted into the WNBA since Briann January was selected to the Indiana Fever in the 2009 WNBA Draft.

The Phoenix Mercury, who won the 2014 WNBA championship, also drafted Tennessee's Isabelle Harrison, Wichita State's Alex Harden and Slovakia's Zofia Hruscakova.
