Michael Crow officially announces Bobby Hurley as the new ASU men's basketball coach at a press conference on April 10, 2015.

Former Buffalo guard Shannon Evans has commited to ASU, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

Evans, a 6-foot-1 sophomore point guard, played under new coach Bobby Hurley while the two were are at Buffalo and turned down reported interest from Miami and other schools to come play for his former coach.

Evans averaged 15.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game at Buffalo during the 2014-15 season en route to a second-team All-MAC selection and an NCAA Tournament berth.

Per NCAA transfer rules, Evans will sit out the 2015-16 men's basketball season. Evans will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Evans is the first recruit to commit to ASU under coach Bobby Hurley.

2016 prospect Dominic Green asked to be released from his letter of intent last week, making him one of three Sun Devils originally expected to be with the team in the future who will not. Sophomore center Connor MacDougall and junior forward Sai Tummala will both transfer, according to reports.
