After practicing outdoors on the Kajikawa Practice Field for each of the last two sessions, inclement conditions on the outdoor fields led to ASU football's return to the Verde Dickey Dome on Friday.
Media availability was restricted to team stretch and a short 11-on-11 segment featuring only the first team. It was a situational two-minute drill with crowd noise pumped into the Verde Dickey Dome.
Redshirt senior quarterback Mike Bercovici was mobile during the brief session, often rolling in and out of pressure and even having to get rid of the ball twice. He made back-to-back nice throws at the beginning of the drive, first finding redshirt sophomore Ellis Jefferson on a diving play on an out route and then finding senior D.J. Foster wide open on a wheel route. Jefferson made another leaping grab to get the first team into the red zone.
Once the offense got into the red zone, they stalled. Senior corner Kweishi Brown did a solid job on a pass breakup in the back corner in the end zone, and "Gump" Hayes and Gary Chambers dropped would-be touchdowns on back-to-back slants.
