Phoenix police are searching for a white male following a report of aggravated assault involving a firearm that took place adjacent to ASU’s Downtown Phoenix campus around 7 a.m. Monday.

According to an alert from the LiveSafe app that was sent in an email to ASU students, the subject pointed a gun at the unnamed victim’s car window while they were seated inside at First Avenue and Fillmore Street.

The suspect fled the area on foot and was last seen wearing a black shirt and baggy dark colored jeans, according to the alert.

The suspect was not known to the victim and an arrest has not been made. An additional unnamed witness said the man displayed “erratic behavior” that they believed may be a result of substance abuse.

ASU police were advised of the assault at 7:05 a.m., according to the LiveSafe alert. The alert was not sent to students until shortly before 10 a.m. This was the second crime alert to be sent to students in the last two days, with the previous alert being a sexual assault at ASU's Polytechnic campus.

Further information regarding this case can be directed to the Phoenix police department at 602-262-6151.

This is a breaking story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
