ASU reports 312 positive cases within community

Of the current COVID-19 cases, 283 are among students and 29 are among staff

The University reported 312 known positives within the ASU community Tuesday, 283 of which are students and 29 are faculty and staff.

This is about a 1.9% increase compared to last week’s report of 306 cases.

Out of the students who have tested positive, 243 are living off campus in the Phoenix metropolitan area. There are 33 students in isolation on the Tempe campus and seven students in isolation across the Downtown Phoenix, West and Polytechnic campuses.

Since Aug. 2, the University has conducted a total of 20,987 tests, which is 6,630 more than last week’s report. Since Aug. 1, there have been 557 positive COVID-19 cases, which is a roughly 2.6% positivity rate.

The University has conducted a total of 2,296 random saliva tests among students and faculty from Aug. 30 to Sept. 5. Of the collected samples, 1,871 came from students and 425 came from faculty. There were 26 tests that came back positive. 

As of Tuesday, the Arizona Department of Health Services reported 1,982 new positive COVID-19 cases and 54 new deaths.
