As the spring 2025 semester comes to an end, we recap the best photos from different political events that took place during the fall 2024 and spring 2025 semesters at and around ASU.

With ASU's 2024-2025 academic year coming to an end, we'd like to take a look back at some of Arizona's biggest political moments caught on camera from these past two semesters. This past fall there was nonstop political coverage, from presidential campaigns to state and local elections. If it affected Arizona voters, The State Press was there to cover it.

Presidential Rallies

With Arizona being a swing state, it was a prime target for both presidential campaigns. Whether it be visiting the surrounding areas, or ASU itself, students got to see both tickets up close through their many presidential rallies. State Press reporters were sent to events to bring the ASU community news about the two presidential candidates and their running mates.

Arizona Senators

While there was much focus on the historic presidential campaigns, The State Press also captured moments from Arizona's senate race as well. With Ruben Gallego and Kari Lake running for the open senate seat and Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly on the campaign trail for both Kamala Harris and Gallego, students and community members had the opportunity to meet these political figures.

Protests

Protests were present over Phoenix and Tempe over these last two semesters, as ASU students and community members spoke out on topics such as presidential policies and conflict in the Middle East. The State Press was able to capture these political displays.

Pop-up Events

With ASU's student population being a prime demographic for many campaigns, pop-up events were a big part of reaching young voters. These events gave students the opportunity to talk with political figures in a way not always available. At times, politicians were joined by actors and influential figures to reach a new generation.

Rallies

Rallies were an essential way for politicians to build up hype and momentum. Those in attendance experienced loud music, passionate speeches and special guests. This rallies created an environment that State Press photographers went to document.

Anthony Cavale, Quinton Kendall, Sophie Schaeffer, Madison Haynie, Kendall Makuta, Morgan Kubasko, Kate Nakamura, Calvin Stewart and Paul Pascual also contributed photos to this article.
