Football falters from fourth-quarter frustrations

A catastrophic four minutes in the fourth shifted the tide for ASU in its 48-20 loss at then No. 10 Texas A&M.
Entering the final quarter, the Sun Devils were firmly in contention with the Aggies battling back and forth in a 24-20 ballgame with 107,523 in attendance at Kyle Field. ASU then turned the ball over in three consecutive drives in the fourth quarter.
Junior quarterback Cutter Boley threw two pick-sixes, with a fumble from senior running back Kyson Brown sandwiched in between, as the game fell out of reach in a matter of minutes.
Despite Texas A&M finishing with 48 points, the Aggies only recorded 255 yards from scrimmage. After the game, head coach Kenny Dillingham expressed that the numbers don't always tell the full story.
"Stats are for losers," Dillingham said via Speak of the Devils. "Our stats showed that we played well tonight. They're for losers; that's a great example of it. But it does show that we can be competitive. It does show that we can hang; it does show we have a good football team."
Senior wide receiver Reed Harris had an explosive day leading the way for the Sun Devil offense. The Boston College transfer brought in two touchdowns on nine receptions and 189 receiving yards.
ASU will look to bounce back across the pond against Kansas as they take on the Jayhawks in an historic matchup at Wembley Stadium in week three.
No. 12 volleyball finishes strong following upset loss

From Sept. 10-12, ASU hosted its first contests of the year in the friendly confines of Desert Financial Arena.
Snyder-Park Classic opened with the Sun Devils falling in four sets to UC Davis, their first regular-season home loss since Nov. 17, 2023. ASU bounced back on Friday with a 3-1 win over No. 24 Oregon, rounding out the weekend in a four-set victory against San Diego.
Senior opposite Noemie Glover and junior outside hitter Una Vajagić continued their offensive dominance as both recorded double-digit kills in all three contests. Freshman setter Elle Mottola and junior middle blocker Antonina Serafinowska showed out on Friday and Saturday. Mottola recorded 35 and 34 assists while Serafinowska cleaned everything up defensively, registering eight and six blocks, respectively. Junior libero Faith Frame led the team in digs in all three matches with 13, 10 and 15. The Sun Devils now prepare for the SLO Classic on Sept. 17 and 18.
Soccer makes history on senior night

ASU couldn't have responded much better after its first loss of the season.
Five days after a 1-0 defeat to UNC, the Sun Devils dominated Grambling State, cruising to an 8-0 win on Senior Night. The Sun Devils set multiple records, including program highs for goals in a single game, the largest margin of victory, and shots in one match with 40.
The display followed a pregame celebration honoring the squad's eight seniors. Two of them — Emmie Ennis and Peyton Marcisz — picked up their first career braces, scoring twice. Lucy Fazackerley, Sierra Bergen, Ella Kettles and Kierra Blundell added to the tally.
After finishing their non-conference schedule in record-breaking fashion, the Sun Devils now look ahead to the start of Big 12 play. They open at home on Sept. 18, against Utah, before a three-game road trip.
