BREAKING: Mill Avenue shooting leaves one hospitalized

The victim was hospitalized with a non-life threatening injury

A shooting on South Mill Avenue and 5th Street left one hospitalized on Monday morning. 

According to a written statement from the Tempe Police Department, a fight broke out between two groups at around 12:30 a.m. — near the western border of the Tempe campus.

Officials said one man involved in the fight pulled out a gun and shot the victim. The victim was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

The suspect and the group fled following the shooting. Police later found them and all involved parties were detained, Tempe PD stated.

Tempe PD made at least one arrest. 

The identities of those involved are unknown. Tempe PD confirmed in the statement that there was "no ASU affiliation" in the altercation. 

The police investigation is ongoing.
