Feast On The Street

Roosevelt Row teamed up with the Arizona State University Art Museum and the local downtown Phoenix community to put on the first annual Feast On The Street. It's the first of what Roosevelt Row Co-founder Greg Esser says he hopes to be many more Feasts. Esser estimates between 2,500 and 5,000 came out to the event Saturday April 13th. It centered around a long table stretching down 1st Street from Taylor Place to Margaret T. Hance Park. Phoenix residents were encouraged to buy food from local businesses surrounding 1st Street and eat at the table. The event is inspired by an urban harvest festival put on in England by artist Clare Patey with a similar name, Feast On The Bridge. With activities centered around composting and gardens, downtown Phoenix community leaders hope that this art project will bring the community together as well as raise awareness about the importance of buying local and being green.
