Biology senior Brian Page may not sweat it out on the field or the court, but he does spend plenty of time on the water as a Sun Devil. Page is captain of the sailing team, which includes members who are staff, undergraduate and graduate students. The team began competing in races against other universities this semester. SPM caught up with Page to learn about the club and what, besides sailing, floats his boat.

As president of Undergraduate Student Government, Liz Simonhoff has helped bring speakers like Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Barack Obama to campus, informed students about the environment and gotten them back on their bicycles. And apparently, she's devoured some strawberry lemonade and a few desserts — her weaknesses — along the way. This week, SPM catches up with the busy finance senior via e-mail for the lowdown on what's been going on with USG.

A man twists and twirls a woman, her skirt flaring and heels tapping as the pair rhythmically moves to the beat. The sounds of Latin music guide the dancers' bodies, and together they make their way across a wooden dance floor. Lights flash, and a crowd of people begins to move to the music that blares through the speakers. It's Salsa Night at Club Red. Every Tuesday and Sunday night, amateur and professional salsa dancers can be found shaking their stuff on the 1,200-square-foot dance floor at Club Red. "It's definitely the place to go for the best college scene," says English literature sophomore Ferny Lino, a member of ASU's competitive dance team, Showdance. For the less experienced, Club Red offers hour-long salsa dancing lessons starting at 8 p.m. that come free with the club's $6 cover.

A movie theater may be the typical spot for that first kiss, but you're going to have to pass the bread and finish your appetizer before you can make your move at Farrelli's Cinema Supper Club. The movie showings at Farrelli's have a special twist; a dimly lit theater and full-sized screen provide the classic movie going experience, but guests enjoy a full menu of fine dining along with the show. Guests are asked to arrive a half-hour before the show to place their dinner orders, and can choose to sit at a round table or in rows alongside other moviegoers. Entrees range from $15 to $20, and desserts are less than $6 each. Movie tickets cost $7, and show times can be found on the Web site.

For those who are a little bit country, the Rockin' Rodeo lets club goers line dance. Old-school music lovers can do the electric slide at Confetti's, which brings back the tunes from the '80s and '90s. The bar in South Beach bumps all of the hottest Top 40 hits, and Alley Cats is a karaoke bar. Ted's Hot Dogs is one of the few places you can spot kids, adults and old people all eating with their hands. The famous restaurant chain was started in 1927, and has been serving up award-winning hot dogs in New York and Tempe in the decades since. One bite into a charcoal-broiled hot dog with your choice of up to 15 toppings (sauerkraut, peppers and onions, relish, or a pickle, to name a few) lets customers know why Ted's puts the "hot" in hot dog. To satisfy your sweet tooth, try one of Ted's homemade milkshakes.

Out of the many options for strip clubs around the Valley, one rises above all others: Christie's Cabaret. The reason why is simple, says Justin Glerum, a real estate management sophomore. "The girls there are just hotter." Aside from the attractiveness of the dancers, Christie's offers a more upscale strip club experience, says Carlo DeGregorio, a business marketing sophomore. Visitors to Christie's sit on individual lounge chairs and can order drinks and food. For those who like it in the morning - food at a strip club, that is - Christie's also serves breakfast. Dancers can be seen on one large stage with three poles and two smaller stages without poles. Christie's Cabaret is not a fully-nude bar, meaning the girls don't reveal their bodies below the waist. For most guys, that's OK, Glerum says, adding that the rest of the female form at Christie's is admirable enough.
