Since its inception in 1985, the American Cancer Society's signature annual fundraising event, Relay For Life, has helped raise millions of dollars to support research in the fight against cancer. This weekend at Sun Angel Stadium, thousands of ASU students, their families and others affected by cancer joined together to take part in ASU's 2011 Relay For Life. From 8 p.m. on Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday, volunteers, cancer survivors, their loved ones and ASU students steadily walked laps around the Sun Angel track throughout the night and early morning. With over 120 teams participating, comprising 2,600 supporters and their families, the ASU Relay raised more than $120,000 in online donations alone. This year's Relay at ASU featured an infield with nonstop activities, from live bands to an inflatable boxing ring, surrounded by the tents and sleeping bags of participants who took turns walking around the track, taking the next step forward in the ongoing battle to find a cure for cancer.
