If It Ain't Baroque, Don't Fix It

Baroque (1600-1750) was an art movement that came after the Renaissance. It took techniques like realism and chiaroscuro and combined them with the intense drama and emotion of the Mannerists (a group of artists that chose to deviate from the harmony and perfection of the Renaissance). Because Baroque combines Renaissance and the Mannerist ideals, it yielded some of the most ostentatious and ornate pieces of art.

Laughing their way to the top: Barren Mind takes on nationals

On March 1st, they’ll be on a stage in Chicago, competing with 11 other improv troupes at the College Improv Tournament. Whether they win or lose, Barren Mind will be able to come away from the tournament saying that they’re one of the top-twelve college improv troupes in the nation.

Students develop the ultimate universal remote

Josh Heuser, Kimberley Heuser and Mikel Robinson wanted to create voice recognition software to eliminate conventional remotes to stop the relentless search for clickers everywhere. After developing the technology further, they realized it also served other vital applications.

Find a sea of treasures in Blue House Boutique

Rows of neutral painted houses line the streets. Each house blends in with the next, creating a sea of suburbia. But there in this sea, a lone blue house is an anomaly. It stands out. A vintage house painted a bright royal blue with a stark white picket fence lining the lawn beckons customers to walk in and spend the afternoon perusing the stock of one-of-a-kind pieces.
