An homage to Justin Vernon and home

Bon Iver is the crushing of dead leaves under heavy boots. It’s snow falling at Christmas time. It has serenaded me at the beach, on road trips, while trudging through slush, walking to class and falling asleep. It’s my anthem when I’m homesick. It’s raw, heavy, light, joyful, sad, melancholy and serene. It’s a reminder of my roots and my struggles. It’s a representation of me.

My adventure to Poly

I grew up not too far north of the campus, but never had I actually visited to see what it was like. I figured that now that I am an ASU student, it seemed fitting to explore the mysterious campus that was in my own backyard all along.

A psychedelic and atheist-rock playlist

London tube tunes for your inner anglophile

One of the biggest reasons I owe England part of my soul is The Vaccines. Posters promoting their most recent album “Come of Age” were plastered to walls of the tube. Songs like “If You Wanna” and “A Lack of Understanding” blasted through the speakers in Topshop as I looked at clothes I could never afford or pull off.

Carol Rifka Brunt's poignant debut will make you cry

I am always really sensitive to books that target real world issues like loneliness and the loss of a loved one. There are many authors that I feel do these situations justice. When I see an author's debut, however, I start out skeptical.

Can You Feel the Pressure?

Uncle Ben told Peter Parker, "With great power comes great responsibility." Freedom is a college student's spider web. It's easy to spin out of control and get caught within.

Can Music Cure Heartbreak?

Can music cure a broken heart? It seems unlikely. On the other hand, couldn’t such a binding force have the potential to remedy even the widest cracks in our soul? My theory is this: Keep listening. It helps.
