Average American sports fans will most likely say their favorite sport is baseball, football or basketball.

And that’s it.

Why can’t we give some other sports like hockey and soccer a chance?

It’s really not that hard to sit down and watch a few hockey games.

The puck is passed up and down the rink as the players attempt to put it in the opponent’s net.

Sounds kind of like basketball, right?

Not to mention, the NHL Playoffs rival any other sport.

Nowhere else are you going to see men in full beards put their bodies on the line for 60-plus minutes.

And there’s soccer, the ugly duckling of American sports culture.

Yeah, there’s not that much scoring, but that’s what makes it interesting.

So much has to go right in order for a goal to happen; so once one is scored, it’s easy to appreciate.

But some people just can’t seem to handle a 0-0 draw, like the recent USA-Mexico World Cup Qualifier.

I’m one of them.

If more people would reach outside of their sports comfort zone, then a new love of sport could arise.
