Tempe Police reported the following incidents Tuesday:
- A 44-year-old Phoenix man was arrested Sunday on the 700 block of East Oxford Drive on suspicion of second-degree burglary, according to a police report.
The man rang the doorbell to the residence and when no one answered, he climbed over the wall, the report said.
Upon entering the backyard, the man broke into the southeast bedroom window to enter the residence, according to the report.
The man said he used the shower, changed into clothing found in the residence and ate food from the kitchen, police said.
The man remained in the home for three days until Tempe Police contacted him, according to the report.
When officers approached him, the man was wearing the homeowner's clothing and jewelry, the report said.
Police reported that upon entering the residence, they found many drawers that the man had looked through along with property that he had displaced.
A records check revealed the man had an outstanding Tempe warrant and a Maricopa Superior Court warrant, the report said.
The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held, according to the report.
- A 33-year-old Tempe man was arrested Sunday at the intersection of Broadway and Price roads on suspicion of aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, third-degree criminal trespass, criminal damage and obstructing a public thoroughfare, according to a police report.
An officer contacted the man after seeing him trespassing on Arizona Department of Transportation property, police reported.
The man pulled away and attempted to flee on a bicycle when the arresting officer tried to grab him, police said.
During a second attempt to grab the man, the officer holstered his stun gun, the report said.
The man forcefully grabbed the officer’s stun gun and damaged it when he threw it onto Price Road, police said.
Damages were approximately $1,500, the report said.
In a second attempt to leave the scene and get to his bicycle, the man began to run northbound across traffic, police reported.
The report stated that the man had trespassed on that property just 14 days before his arrest and a different officer issued him a warning. When the man was caught trespassing the first time, he argued that the property belonged to the people, police said.
The man was transported to the Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, according to the report.
