American Indian dancers and drummers from across the U.S. and Canada gathered to participate in ASU Pow Wow, a three-day dance and music competition held at the ASU Band Practice Field. The ASU men’s hockey team began in the late 70s when players were playing drop in hockey. The team originated as the Ice Devils and didn’t become the Sun Devil’s until the 1998-99 season. Since coach Greg Powers took over three years ago the Division I team has improved. This year the team went the furthest it has in history, ranked number 2 entering into the American Collegiate Hockey Association Division I Tournament. see more

The annual Phoenix Pride Parade was held on Saturday, April 6 and covered a 1-mile distance between Thomas and Indian School Roads in Phoenix. On March 30, 20 inmates at Phoenix’s Estrella Jail performed skits incorporating dance, song, poetry and spoken word for the final piece of a a six-week program. see more

The Arizona Renaissance Festival, held February 9 through March 31, features a variety of medieval performances, confections and activities.
