A Simple Plan

No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls

Recording Corp. 2002

A Simple Plan wants you to take off more than your pants and jacket, they want your helmet and pads, too. Unfortunately, after all that's gone, and despite their CD title, they aren't left with any balls.

The first track, "I'd Do Anything," is a lighter, simpler hybrid of Blink 182's "The Rock Show." A boy sings about a girl he met, wonders if she'll remember him, they dream of dropping out of school together, etc.

The second track, "The Worst Day Ever," might as well be Blink's "All the Small Things." "Work sucks, I know," pretty much sums up the song. On another song, "My Alien," the band confuses one of Blink182's aliens in the closet from "Aliens Exist," with a girl. And the rest of the tracks follow in poppy, punky suit.

A Simple Plan is pure, wanna-be Blink 182 complete with whiny lyrics and "na-na na-na na'"s. And we all know one sell-out punk band is enough.

They get two of four stars for not making it more complicated.
