The ASU baseball program ranked 11th for producing players on the National Team, according to a recent study conducted by USA Baseball.

Since 1984, eight Sun Devils have been represented on the Red, White and Blue Tour. The study ranked the top 50 programs in the country out of 114 colleges and universities that have produced players on Team USA.

The first Sun Devil to grace the National Team was All-American outfielder Oddibe McDowell, who played in Tempe from 1984-85. McDowell helped the Americans win a silver medal at the 1984 Olympics.

ASU has sent four players to the National Team in the past three years. Former catcher Casey Myers and former pitcher Jon Switzer competed in 2000.

Right-hander Mike Esposito, who recently signed with the Colorado Rockies, represented the Sun Devils in 2001. ASU sophomore infielder Dustin Pedroia adorned the red, white and blue last summer.

Stanford claimed the top spot in the poll, having sent 20 players to the National Team over the last 19 years. The Cardinal have had at least one player in 17 of the past 19 seasons. Miami finished second with 13 players, while Cal State Fullerton, USC and Florida State rounded out the top five.

Since 1959, ASU has captured five national championships, second only to USC. Under the guidance of just three head coaches in the modern era, the Sun Devils have amassed a 1,930-777-1 (.713) record.
