Brief: Pita Pit to serve up Greek-style food near ASU

Campus eating can be the pits sometimes. But fear not, a new healthy-eating option is coming to Tempe today.

Pita Pit's first-ever Arizona location is opening in Tempe, just across the street from ASU at 120 E. University Drive.

Dmitri Soris, the franchisee of the new store, says the Greek-based restaurant chain traditionally does well in university vicinities.

"Usually, we start off in a college town and branch off," Soris said.

He said that the concentration of the people around ASU, coupled with the fact that college towns supply good amounts of customers, made ASU a logical place to expand the franchise.

"The Pita Pit is a very healthy place," Soris said. "It's great for kids."

The store opens to the public today, and the grand opening is planned for March on a date yet to be determined.
