And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead's 'The Secret of Elena's Tomb'

With quotes on the And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead Web site like, "I want to do acid with the President of the United States," a wild musical encounter was expected from their latest album, The Secrets of Elena's Tomb.

However, this Austin, Texas-based foursome delivers a musical experience much more tame then their chilling name and wise-ass image.

Although The Secrets of Elena's Tomb begins with the headbanging-punk charged track "Mach Schau," the album evolves into a tame musical experience.

Most of the tracks are riddled with intimate lyrics and punk overtones that create a unique sound that And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead can call their own.

The Secrets of Elena's Tomb's intimacy reaches its crest on track four, "Counting Off the Days," with a solace acoustic experience. However, And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead follows the tranquil mood created by "Counting Off the Days," with the fifth and last track, "Intelligence," which is a pulsating rock tune reminiscent of the old Nine Inch Nails.

Ultimately, don't allow the dismal overtone of this group band fool you, The Secrets of Elena's Tomb provide a lively and engaging musical encounter.

The only problem is that the entire album is only 20 minutes long.
