Police Beat: Extreme blood alcohol in Manzanita


Tempe police reported the following incidents Monday:

A 31-year-old transient man was arrested near the 1300 block of East Broadway Road on charges of theft of services after he refused to pay his bill for food and alcohol consumed at Native New Yorker. The man only had 32 cents, according to the report.

A 19-year-old Tempe woman was arrested near the 400 block of South Westfall Road on charges of criminal damage after she allegedly hit a blue Cadillac belonging to her husband with a weed whacker.

A 21-year-old transient man was arrested near the intersection of University Drive and Beck Avenue on charges of carrying a prohibited weapon. The man allegedly stabbed a tree with an eight-inch knife.

A 25-year-old Phoenix man was arrested near the 1900 block of West Baseline Road on charges of shoplifting after he allegedly removed a cell phone from a store display and left without paying.

ASU police reported the following incidents Monday:

A Honda Accord was burglarized while parked at Ocotillo Hall and the stereo and speakers removed. Total estimated loss is $800.

A bicycle was reported stolen from the Physical Science Building H-wing. Total estimated loss is $220.

A bicycle was reported stolen from the courtyard at San Pablo Hall. Total estimated loss is $130.

A student was reportedly injured after striking his head on the fire equipment box on the second floor of Manzanita Hall. A police investigation revealed that the student was drunk, with a blood alcohol content of .286. He was arrested for underage consumption of alcohol.
