Phoenix police arrested a man Wednesday who may be connected to an assault that happened earlier in the day at ASU West.

A female student was assaulted as she was preparing to leave campus, according to ASU spokesman Keith Jennings.

The woman was in her car with her seat belt on and the door open when a man driving a red Ford Focus reportedly exited his car and approached her.

The man then allegedly attempted to push the woman to the floor of her car and groped her, grabbing her breasts and legs. The woman was transported to an area hospital for evaluation. She described the man as a white male weighing approximately 180-185 pounds with short dark brown hair and a tattoo on his left arm. She also described his vehicle and license plate number.

Phoenix police made a traffic stop at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and reportedly found a gun and drugs in the possession of a man fitting the description given to police by the victim.

The police then arrested the man, and Jennings said ASU police detectives would question him about the incident.
