Police Beat: Stop that beef!


Tempe police reported the following incidents on Friday:

A 50-year-old Tempe man was arrested on a charge of shoplifting by concealment near the 900 block of East Broadway Road after he allegedly placed a beef roast inside his vest and attempted to walk out of a Safeway grocery store without paying. Police also found a bottle of Sierra Mist and a pineapple in his possession.

A 29-year-old Phoenix man was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana near the intersection of 48th Street and Southern Avenue. He allegedly left a residence in Tempe that was later discovered to have 60 pounds of marijuana inside. He was found in possession of $50,000 cash when he was arrested.

A 22-year-old Tempe woman was arrested on a charge of forgery near the 900 block of East Elliot Road. She allegedly brought a stolen check into a Wells Fargo Bank and cashed it for $750.

A 31-year-old Jamaican man was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana near the 100 block of East Geneva Drive.

A 36-year-old male transient was arrested on a charge of third-degree criminal trespassing after he was found camping in the Salt River bed near the 1900 block of East Pima Street.

ASU police reported the following incidents Friday:

An unknown subject hit a light pole at 450 E. Orange St., causing approximately $700 damage.

A 32-year-old Glendale man was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license.
