A lot of ASU students are probably planning on spending their spring break partying in Rocky Point or relaxing on the beach in San Diego. For me, though, the ideal break can be found no farther away than Maryvale, the spring training home of baseball's Milwaukee Brewers.
I'm a Wisconsin native, so Brewers games at Maryvale Baseball Park obviously interest me a lot more than most Valley residents. When I went to a game there last year, the stadium was about 15 percent full. Consecutive 100-loss seasons will do that to a team's support - so will being associated with Bud Selig in any way.
But now that the team includes several former Diamondbacks - among them Craig Counsell, Junior Spivey and Chad Moeller - the sausage races Randall Simon made infamous are no longer the only reason to attend. Go support the Brewers this spring break - somebody has to do it!
