Police Beat: Giving cops the finger...bad idea


Tempe police reported the following incidents Friday:

An 18-year-old ASU student was arrested Thursday night after police alleged he flipped them off while jaywalking. The suspect allegedly crossed against a red light at the intersection of Seventh Street and Mill Avenue. Police also charged the suspect for refusing to give his information.

A 23-year-old Tempe man was arrested Friday morning after police responded to a noise complaint at his residence near the 600 block of S. Hardy Dr. Police allegedly smelled an odor of burning marijuana coming from the apartment. The suspect was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after he reluctantly gave police a plastic bag containing a leafy green substance.

A 42-year-old Tempe man was arrested Wednesday and charged with aggravated DUI after police said he was involved in a collision near the 200 Block of N. McClintock Dr. The suspect was allegedly over the legal alcohol limit at the time and had his 11-year-old son in the car.

A 20-year-old ASU student was arrested Friday morning near the 300 block of E. University Dr. Police charged the minor with having alcohol in his system and giving two false names and a false birth date.
