Police Beat: Scavenger hunt gone wrong


Tempe police reported the following incidents Friday:

A 37-year-old transient woman was arrested Wednesday and charged with 19 counts of trafficking stolen possessions and one count of theft near the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Van Buren Street. The suspect allegedly sold $5,118 worth of jewelry to pawn in shops in Phoenix. Police say the jewelry was stolen from the Farr Jewelers located at 3232 S. McClintock Drive during an armed robbery more than a month ago.

A 26-year-old Phoenix man was arrested Thursday night and charged with disorderly conduct and trespassing at The Library Bar and Grill, at 501 S. Mill Ave. The suspect allegedly became involved in a physical fight and refused to leave the bar when asked.

A 27-year-old Hobbs, N.M., man was arrested Friday morning after police said he was found driving in a bike lane on the wrong side of the street on Broadway Road. The suspect was pulled over near the 1000 block of East Eighth Street and charged with extreme DUI. A breath test allegedly measured the suspect's blood alcohol content at .218.

ASU police reported the following incident Friday.

An 18-year-old ASU student was arrested and charged with possession of spirituous liquor in the body Tuesday around 1 a.m. in Lot 59. The suspect was in a group of about 20 people. Police say the group was going to Tempe Town Lake to take pictures for a fraternity scavenger hunt.
