Never too 'late in the day' for British wonder band Supergrass as they have popped up yet again with a Happy Tenth Birthday album that will keep fans of all albums content, especially with the addition of the bonus live E.P.
Fresh out of Oxford, England, this group immersed itself on the British public with the release of 'Alright,' a catchy popish song that reflects just one of the genres Supergrass adopts throughout their albums. With obvious influences from the Beatles to Elton John, a band of the most eclecticism emerges. From the poignant harmonies in 'Mary' to the Blur-esque melody of 'Pumping on Your Stereo,' a variance is created that will give fans a true taste of the last Supergrass decade.
The compilation contains songs from the first album, I Should Coco, 1994, to Life on Other Planets, 2002, and includes two new singles, 'Kiss of Life' and 'Seen the Light.' Each album is meant to have a different sound as the band experimented with various instruments (and budgets) from one CD to the next.
Even hardcore 'grass fans out there with all the albums in their possession should seriously considering buying this greatest hits collection. The wonderful acoustic version of 'Caught by the Fuzz' on the bonus live disk alone makes this a worthy buy. Who would have thought singing about your blow dealer could sound so charming and arouse such sentiment?
Cheers Supergrass on a superb album. Happy birthday boys.
