Think you know about coming full circle?
You don't know jack unless your name is Joe Germaine.
Eight years ago, Germaine, an Ohio State quarterback, engineered the game-winning drive in the 1997 Rose Bowl, dashing ASU's national championship hopes.
On Thursday, Germaine will make his first Arena Football League start for the Arizona Rattlers.
Germaine is replacing veteran Sherdrick Bonner, who suffered a bruised knee in Friday's season opener at Grand Rapids. His Rattlers teammates include former Sun Devils Tom Pace, Justin Taplin and Vince Amey, who played on the 1997 Rose Bowl team.
There's no doubt that Rattlers fans -- many of whom happen to be ASU fans -- will be cheering for Germaine, especially in a game against the high-powered Orlando Predators.
The Rattlers stand no chance of winning if Germaine struggles. They have plenty of playmakers to hold their own with Orlando, but it doesn't do much good unless someone can throw the ball to them.
You can't help but think that some ASU fans remain bitter. After all, ASU could have been the modern-day USC.
