ASU softball coach Linda Wells won her school-record 537th and 538th games over the weekend in the rain-shortened Kajikawa Classic.

The Sun Devils didn't allow the weather to dampen their spirits, rallying to defeat Sacramento State 3-2 and Utah State 11-2 on Sunday afternoon at Farrington Stadium.

"It's just disappointing to have all these teams in and not get games played," said Wells, who passed Mary Littlewood for most wins in school history.

Rain canceled four of ASU's six games and 42 of the 49 games that were scheduled in the 19-team tournament.

ASU (5-0) rallied from deficits in both games. It trailed Sacramento State 2-0 before rallying for three runs with two outs in the third inning.

After five innings against Utah State, ASU trailed 2-1 and had just one hit. The Sun Devils then exploded for 10 hits and 10 runs over the final two innings.

Wrestling

The ASU wrestling team took advantage of a weaker opponent Sunday, rolling over Portland State 46-4 at Wells Fargo Arena.

Portland State won the 149-pound match to pull within 6-4, but the No. 20 Sun Devils (10-6-1, 7-0 Pac-10) answered by winning the final eight bouts.

Freshman 174-pounder Rick Renzi ended his eight-bout losing streak with a 22-11 major decision over Portland State junior A.J. Lawrence. In the 184-pound weight class, junior C.B. Dollaway pinned freshman Sean Murphy in the first period to extend ASU's lead to 25-4 after intermission. Sophomore John Espinoza won the final match by forfeit.

Track and field

The ASU men's and women's track and field teams earned their first two automatic qualifiers for the NCAA Indoor Championships and 12 provisional marks in a pair of meets over the weekend.

Sophomore Domenik Peterson earned an automatic bid with a win in the 200m dash at the Holiday Inn Team Invitational in Nampa, Idaho.

Sophomore Amy Hastings also earned an automatic bid by posting a school-record time of 16 minutes, 5.83 seconds in the 5,000m run at the Husky Invitational in Seattle. She finished fifth.

Senior Angela Tavlarides and sophomore Cara Walker took turns setting school records in the pole vault. Tavlarides started the season with the record, but Walker took it last week. On Friday, Tavlarides became the first Sun Devil to break the 13-foot mark.

Men's golf

After two shaky rounds, the ASU men's golf team rebounded Friday to finish tied for eighth at the Taylor Made/Waikoloa Intercollegiate in Waikoloa, Hawaii.

The Sun Devils shot an 18-under 270, the fourth-lowest score in the final round. Senior Jesse Mueller led ASU with a 9-under 207 to finish tied for 24th place.

On Sunday, ASU moved up to seventh in the coaches' poll. Other Pac-10 teams in the top 25 include No. 8 UCLA, No. 10 USC and No. 19 UA.

Men's tennis

After trailing California 2-1 on Friday, the ASU men's tennis team scrambled Sunday for a 4-3 win over the Golden Bears. The match was postponed because of rain.

Cal swept three doubles matches, but ASU (3-1, 1-1) went 4-2 in singles play, despite losses from its top two players -- senior Andy Colombo and sophomore Christopher Biro. Senior Clint Letcher and sophomore Nick Hegarty won their singles matches in straight sets.
