Devil Dish: Nash for MVP

Shaq seems to have it all these days.

He's the most dominant player in the NBA. He's unstoppable in the paint. And his move to Miami not only helped turn the Heat into an NBA title contender but also knocked the once-proud Los Angeles Lakers out of the playoffs.

However, Shaq is not the Most Valuable Player. The Diesel is no Steve Nash.

Nash has orchestrated one of the greatest turnarounds in NBA history. He has helped every other starter on the Phoenix Suns have career years. And he has rejuvenated a franchise, revamped an offense and rekindled the basketball flame for the state.

Without question, Nash is the MVP.

The MVP award should go to the player who means the most to his team, not the biggest, strongest player in the league. Shaq's Heat were a playoff team without him last season. Nash's Suns won 29 games.

Many voters claim Shaq deserves the honor because of the lack of MVP awards he has received throughout his career. But it isn't a career award. It's based solely on this season.

And this season, the answer is clear.
