Golden State snatches Diogu

Former ASU standout Ike Diogu was chosen by the Golden State Warriors, who had the ninth pick in the first round of Tuesday's NBA draft.

Diogu, who played three seasons at ASU, led the Pac-10 in points, rebounds, and blocks per game last season. He earned conference Player of the Year and second-team All-American honors.

He is the third-leading scorer in ASU history.

A native of Garland, Texas, Diogu wasn't highly regarded by many entering the draft. He was the first player selected not invited to New York, rising up late on draft charts because of good workouts with several NBA teams.

Diogu becomes the 33rd ASU player selected in the draft and the first to go in the first round since Mario Bennett was selected with the 27th pick in 1995.
