Police Beat: Cop kicked in stomach with stiletto heel

Tempe police reported the following incidents Tuesday:

A 32-year-old Phoenix man was arrested on University Drive just west of Mill Avenue Monday night on charges of assault, disorderly conduct and possession of prescription drugs. Police investigation discovered the man reportedly "punched [the victim] five to six times for no reason." He then uttered profanities deemed offensive to another individual, police reported. The suspect was booked into Tempe jail.

A 27-year-old woman was arrested on the 1000 block of East Apache Boulevard Monday morning on two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer. While being detained for an assault investigation, she became aggressive and "kicked [an officer] in the stomach with an [8-inch] stiletto heel," leaving a red mark, police reported. The woman also allegedly spit on another officer, wetting his uniform's chest area.

A 21-year-old Chandler man was released pending investigation Monday after being arrested on the 10000 block of South Price Road for possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia. "A small baggie with a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana and a 4-inch pipe [were] observed in his vehicle, plain view," police reported. He was first contacted after someone called Tempe police under the impression the suspect was impaired. Officers found him sleeping in his vehicle, but he was not intoxicated.
