Tempe police reported the following incident Wednesday:
A 44-year-old Mesa man was arrested on the 700 block of South Hardy Drive early Wednesday morning and charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. "He simulated a weapon to gain access into the apartment of two male victims," police reported. "[He] threatened to shoot them both if they did not give him $100." One of the victims reportedly tried to avert the robbery by hitting the suspect with a flashlight. The suspect reportedly gained control of the flashlight and hit the victim twice in the side of the head with it. The suspect then allegedly fled the apartment, but police reportedly found him in the parking lot. "[He] was in possession of one of the victims' wallet and further investigation revealed [he] was wanted for an outstanding arrest warrant for parole violation," police reported.
