An ASU graduate was found guilty on all three counts in a fatal hit-and-run case in Maricopa County Superior Court on Wednesday.
Muneerah Al-Tarrah, 22, was convicted of leaving the scene of a fatal accident and two DUI charges by an eight-member jury.
The jury announced its verdict after less than 30 minutes of deliberation.
"The verdict was appropriate," said Mesa Detective John Merrell, who worked with the prosecution. "There weren't many questions with this defendant."
Mesa resident Todd DeGain, 35, was killed while crossing Alma School Road near Baseline Road on Sept. 14, 2005.
Police believe Al-Tarrah drove the vehicle that struck DeGain.
She fled the country before her trial began, but a judge allowed the trial to go on in her absence.
But Al-Tarrah has to be present for her sentencing.
Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas has said he would seek to have her extradited from Kuwait.
Earlier Wednesday, jurors heard closing arguments in the case.
Defense attorney Todd Nolan said Al-Tarrah may not have known she hit a person. The alcohol in her system may have slowed her reaction time.
He said even unimpaired drivers are often unable to react quickly enough to see objects that hit their windshields.
"How many of you have seen the chip and not the rock?" he asked the jury.
But prosecutor Jennifer Green said Al-Tarrah knew, or should have known, she hit DeGain.
His body hit Al-Tarrah's windshield just inches from where her head would have been, Green said.
"The victim came right in front of her face," she said.
Police overheard Al-Tarrah telling her friend Reem Bishara that she knew she hit a person, Green added.
Bishara, a geography sophomore, was reportedly driving behind Al-Tarrah in another car.
She was convicted of underage drinking charges last month, but the jury could not reach a verdict on the hit-and-run charge against her.
