The playoffs are here, and it's about time. But it's not the joke of the NBA playoffs that will be creating the most excitement this year.
The NBA parades out a playoff system which features the third best team in the league getting a fourth seed in its conference.
The bottom half of the Eastern Conference playoffs has three teams that are under .500.
In the NHL, the lowest seed in the playoffs is still 10 games over .500.
And with the NHL, any team can make a run and hold the Stanley Cup at the end.
In the NBA, there are only four or five teams that have a legitimate chance at hoisting the O'Brien trophy.
And then there's the time factor. While the NHL playoffs will run for the next month, the NBA likely won't end its season until 2010.
The NHL clearly has a better system set up, and while most might argue that the NBA has greater athletes, you cannot argue against the excitement of the NHL.
Most games will be within one goal of each other. And when the players get mad, they can simply drop their gloves and knock each other out.
