Tempe police are searching for a man who allegedly robbed a Circle K store last week.
The suspect is a 5-foot-8-inch black male, weighing 180 pounds and estimated to be between 30 and 40 years old, police said.
The man reportedly robbed the Circle K located at 222 E. Baseline Road on Wednesday, said Sgt. Dan Masters, Tempe police spokesman.
No weapons were seen, but Masters said police have reason to believe the suspect had a gun in his possession.
"The clerk believed, based on his actions and how he presented himself, that he did in fact have a gun," Masters said.
The suspect reportedly motioned toward his waistband, implying that he had a gun concealed, Masters added.
The suspect entered the store and immediately walked over to the counter, police said.
"The guy came around, simulated having a gun, told the clerk to face away," Masters said.
The suspect then took 13 cartons of cigarettes, each containing 10 to 20 individual packs, Masters said.
Several different brands of cigarettes were stolen, Masters added.
After the man fled the scene, Tempe police conducted a K9 search, which turned up no results, Masters said.
The police department is not yet certain if surveillance videos caught footage of the robbery, he added.
"We know they have a surveillance system, but we haven't gotten a hold of any footage yet," he said.
