Police Beat: Man hides wallet under rock near train yard


ASU police reported the following incidents Friday:

A 51-year-old Phoenix man was arrested Wednesday night on the 700 block of East Lemon Street and charged with false reporting to law enforcement and third-degree trespassing. Officers reportedly contacted the suspect when they noticed him looking at a bike locked to a bike rack. The suspect reportedly said he was interested in purchasing the bike. When asked for identification, the suspect reportedly told police he had hid his ID under a rock in a train yard. "I was in a car wreck and I put it there so I wouldn't lose it," the suspect reportedly said.

A laptop belonging to a 19-year-old male ASU student was reported stolen Wednesday afternoon at the Palo Verde Main residence hall. The victim reportedly left the computer in the hall's lounge when he went to take a nap in his room. He returned seven hours later to find the laptop missing, police said. The estimated loss is $1,200.

A Sun Card belonging to a 22-year-old female ASU student was reported stolen on the afternoon of Monday, April 24 at the Life Sciences A Wing. The victim reportedly left the card in a copy machine. It had a balance of $30 at the time, police reported. The card was used to make an $18.37 purchase at Hoodlums Music after it was reported stolen, police said.

Two 19-year-old male ASU students were arrested on the afternoon of April 24 at Sonora Hall and charged with criminal damage and underage consumption of alcohol. The suspects allegedly walked along the roof of the residence hall, damaging several tiles and a rain gutter. The suspects admitted to drinking alcohol before the incident, police said. Estimated damage is $300.
