ASU police reported the following incidents Friday:

An 18-year-old male ASU student was arrested Thursday evening at the Palo Verde East residence hall and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

The suspect allegedly denied smoking marijuana, but police reportedly smelled air freshener and said the suspect's eyes were watery and bloodshot.

When police asked if there was marijuana in the room, the suspect allegedly gave the officer a prescription medicine container that appeared to contain marijuana. The suspect then handed the officer a pipe from his computer bag when asked the whereabouts of his pipe, police said.



Tempe police reported the following incidents Friday:

A 43-year-old Tempe man was arrested Thursday afternoon at Food City, 725 W. Baseline Road, on charges of shoplifting.

The suspect allegedly placed two 30-packs of beer, a watermelon and crackers into a grocery basket and left the store without paying.

The items, worth $53.80, were returned to the store and the suspect admitted to taking them, police reported.



A 23-year-old Tempe man was arrested Thursday evening on the 1100 Block of West Grove Parkway and charged with disorderly conduct.

The suspect was allegedly warned by police to turn down loud music and agreed to do so.

Later the suspect reportedly turned the music up again. He became uncooperative and was arrested, police said.



A 22-year-old Scottsdale man was arrested Thursday morning on the 1400 block of West Southern Avenue and charged with false reporting to an officer.

The suspect was reportedly stopped for being in a vehicle with fictitious license plates.

The suspect allegedly gave the officer a false name and later said he believed there was an outstanding warrant for him under his "true name."

He was booked into the Tempe City Jail.
