Ladies and gentlemen (and native Tucsonians),
On behalf of the opinions desk here at The State Press, it's my pleasure to welcome you to this semester's opinions page. It is also my pleasure to offer you a unique opportunity: Tell us how much we suck.
Don't get me wrong, we'd really like to hear how great we are. But, in this case, even something hateful is better than nothing at all. If nothing else, it's nice to know that someone is reading. So, that thing your mother told you about not saying anything at all if you don't have anything nice to say? It's out the window. Just write us.
Speaking of mothers, let's leave them out of this whole equation — civil discourse is where it's at.
Keep in mind that we are all students just like you —we don't claim to be anything more. It is a given that we will make mistakes, and it is a given that you will catch them. Obviously, our goal is to keep the mistakes at a minimum, but that is only possible with your help.
With the exception of today's issue, this spot will be filled with your letters. We want to hear your opinions, your thoughts, and your concerns. This paper is yours as much as it is ours. A newspaper without readers is like a stereo without speakers … what's the point?
So please, if we did something wrong, said something idiotic, or you just straight up disagree with something on this page, write a letter to letters.editor@asu.edu.
We'll publish all that we can daily in print form and a few additional letters can be found on the Web Devil. Otherwise, if writing in a public forum doesn't strike your fancy, you can contact me personally at 480-965-2292 or email me at bberkley@asu.edu.
With that said, let the ranting begin.
