Police Beat


Tempe Police reported the following incidents Friday:

  • An 18-year-old California woman was arrested on the 1900 block of East Rio Salado Parkway on suspicion of theft and credit card theft, police reported.

    The woman altered the price on nine items at her place of employment before purchasing the items for herself, according to the police report.

    The woman then used three customers' credit card numbers to purchase gift cards for herself, police reported.

    She admitted to marking down the items after she was questioned by police, according to the police report.

    The woman was arrested, transported and booked at Tempe City Jail on four counts of theft and one of theft of a credit card.

  • A 37-year-old Tempe man was contacted in the 900 block of East Lemon Street for a misdemeanor and felony warrant as well as for providing false information, police reported.

    The man was contacted for suspicious activity. He then gave a false name to police, according to the police report.

    Police checked his information and found he had two outstanding warrants for his arrest, police reported.

    He said he gave a false name to avoid going to jail, according to the police report.

    The man was arrested and booked into Tempe City Jail.

  • A 37-year-old Chandler man was arrested early Friday morning on suspicion of possession of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia, police reported.

    The man was contacted during a traffic stop, according to the police report.

    The man was arrested and booked at Tempe City Jail.

    Four 18-year-old ASU students were arrested at the intersection of Apache Boulevard and Normal Avenue on suspicion of possession of prescription drugs, drug paraphernalia and marijuana, according to police reports.

    The students were in a fight near one of their cars, police reported.

    The doors of the car were open and the odor of fresh marijuana was coming out of the vehicle, according to the police report.

    A search was conducted and two glass bongs, approximately one pound of marijuana, a scale, small individual bags and a container with a false bottom that contained marijuana were found, according to the police report.

    Another bag containing 30 Soma tablets, a prescription muscle relaxant, was found in the car, police reported.

    The students were arrested and booked at Tempe City Jail.
