Age: 32
Party: Republican
I believe that we need to leave party affiliations behind and move forward collective as voters. My obligation is to vote the opinion of registered voters in my district whether it agrees or not with my personal opinion, the only exception being when it impedes or violates the civil liberties of others.
Occupation: Mother and wife
Why are you running for office/re-election?
I really believe that this is a time when change is called for. I felt compelled to stand up and be heard. Frequently, I feel as though the views of the public are not represented by our legislature. I am an ardent advocate for my family and the people of Arizona deserve the same.
What experience qualifies you for the position?
Life. I know how hard it is to be successful in the current climate – Struggling to meet mortgages, college tuition, car payments, affordable health care, and planning for retirement. I have been a student, worked on Wall Street and managed for various businesses. I think I have a global understanding of the needs of Arizonians.
What do you think is the most important issue of the election?
The economy. We cannot tackle a housing crisis, unaffordable tuition and healthcare, failed education or foreign diplomacy until we can stabilize our economy. Arizonans need to feel confident that jobs are secure, tuitions are affordable, the banking industry is safely regulated and controlled and their homes are not slipping away.
If elected, what would you want your relationship with ASU to be?
I am very interested in working with the School of Sustainability. I strongly believe that this is a field of interest paramount to the long-term success of society. We need to go green, get off oil and really plan and control our building to protect our environment. ASU's program is key to helping Arizona recover and stabilize in our current market. I look forward to working with the students and professors to help create bills and legislature that improves our social and economic future and ensures success and growth for future generations.
Why should ASU students want to elect you?
I believe I am very connected to the needs of the students and community. I understand that need for affordable living, health care and education. ASU students can be sure that I will do my best to increase educational grants and programs and incorporate their studies and projects into our current legislature.
What is the No. 1 change you want to see in your district?
Stability. We need to protect our homes and community wealth, clean up the neighborhoods, hire more police and crack down on violent crime. Arizonans want safe, clean communities.
What would your contributions to the community be?
A voice. The voice of my friends, neighbors and voters carried to the legislature with no agenda or personal goal. Truthful, honest, active representation of their needs to the legislative bodies to ensure the success of our state and country.
