Fighting without fear
Dear editor,
While President Crow gloats over his accomplishments, we taxpayers are stuck holding the bill for his empire. Students are forced to shell out thousands more in tuition, good decent employees are scraping by on employment, and class sizes will be larger.
As I drive by ASU, I see a string of worthless building erected while vice Provost Betty Capaldi defends ASU’s decision to thin out the sorely needed nursing program.
Furthermore, we taxpayers foot the bill for ASU’s staggering outside litigation costs, largely related to serious discrimination cases. One professor won her case with the EEOC, and Crow refuses to settle. The Phoenix press loves Michael Crow, but they constantly ignore his history of retaliation against minority women that dates back to Columbia where he served as vice provost (see Chichilnisky v. Columbia). Crow was largely responsible for that 16-year case, which settled favorably for the professor for a huge sum.
If you print my letter, you will be punished. Crow will retaliate against you for publishing the truth. As a freelance writer, though, I have nothing to fear by telling the truth. That’s what journalism is all about, the truth.
Many people at ASU are fearful of Michael Crow, but I am not.
