Jeff Garcia and Terrell Owens. Donovan McNabb and Terrell Owens. The whole world and Terrell Owens.

All of these volatile combinations have one thing in common: Somehow, none of these tandems have yielded worse results than the pair of ASU and the NCAA.

Over the years, the NCAA has found a way to continually bury the Sun Devils postseason hopes.

You name the sport, there is bad news to follow.

Baseball? ASU, one of the best programs in college baseball history and a perennial contender, often ends up with a tough draw in spite of its excellence. How many seasons have the Sun Devils landed in the year’s killer regional or super regional despite being one of the top seeds?

Football? Remember that debacle just a year-plus ago when the three-loss Fighting Illini of Illinois University received the final at-large spot and a Rose Bowl bid over the two-loss Sun Devils?

Adding insult to injury, the ASU women’s basketball team will travel to Georgia — to play Georgia. What a joke.

A home game for a lower seed? Even T.O. isn’t that crazy.
