Police Beat


ASU Police reported the following incident Monday:

  • A 43-year-old woman and her 9-year-old daughter were nearly hit by a razor blade folded inside a piece of paper, police reported.

    An unknown person or persons threw the razor blade from the northeast stairwell of the Business Administration building on the Tempe campus, according to a police report.

    No one was hurt in the incident and no arrests were made, police reported.

Tempe Police reported the following incidents Monday:

  • A 22-year-old Phoenix man was arrested early Thursday morning on suspicion of parole violation at South 48th Street and East Southern Avenue, police reported.

    According to the report, the man was observed making “furtive movements” during a traffic stop, prompting officers to call in a K-9 narcotics unit and conduct a search of the car.

    Officers reported finding a handgun under the driver’s seat, a violation of the suspect’s parole.

    The man was booked into Tempe City Jail and held to see a judge.

  • A 24-year-old Tempe man was arrested Thursday night on suspicion of failure to obey and resisting arrest during a traffic stop, police reported.

    The man was arrested on the 600 block of West 12th Street, according to a police report.

    As the man was attempting to leave his home, an officer contacted him about a traffic violation. The suspect tried to run away, police reported.

    The man was eventually secured, handcuffed, booked into Tempe City Jail and held to see a judge.
