Police Beat: April 28


ASU Police reported the following incidents Tuesday:

  • An unknown person or persons committed theft between 9:20 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Thursday by taking a laptop belonging to a 23-year-old male student, police reported.
  • The student’s black Dell Vostro laptop was reportedly taken from his backpack on the first floor of the Hayden Library on the Tempe campus, according to a police report.

    The estimated loss is $750, police reported.

    There are no suspects, leads or witnesses, according to a report.

  • An unknown person or persons committed theft around 4:30 p.m. Friday by taking a backpack belonging to an 18-year-old male student, police reported.
  • The student left his backpack, which included his laptop computer, on the third floor of the University Center Building on the West campus, according to a police report.

    The estimated loss is $585, police reported.

    There are no suspects, leads or witnesses, according to a report.

  • An unknown person or persons committed theft between 1 and 3 a.m. Saturday by taking a wallet belonging to a 21-year-old female student, police reported.
  • The student’s Vera Bradley wallet was taken from the J Building of Vista del Sol while she was attending a party, according to a police report.

    The estimated loss is $40, police reported.

    There are no suspects, leads or witnesses, according to a report.

  • A 35-year-old man was arrested at on Orange Mall on the Tempe campus around 11 p.m. Monday on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia, police reported.
  • Investigation revealed the man had an open condom wrapper in his pants pocket with a bag inside containing a white, crystal residue that tested positive as being methamphetamine, according to a police report.

    The man was processed at the ASU Police Station before being transported to the Fourth Avenue Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, police reported.

  • A 19-year-old male student was arrested around 10:55 p.m. Thursday on suspicion of false reporting to a law enforcement agency, police reported.
  • The student was contacted for failing to remain stopped at a red light on a bicycle at South McAllister Avenue and East Orange Street in Tempe, according to a police report.

    The man provided police with a false name, date of birth and residence address, police reported.

    The student was arrested, cited and released, according to a report.
