ASU outplayed a top-ranked Big Ten team on the road last Saturday.

Did it motivate anyone to do anything but whine about how it lost and how ‘ASU always loses like that’?

What would it take to get 60,000 Valley residents off their duffs on Saturday night and into Sun Devil Stadium?

Surely a match-up with the most exciting offense in the country, No. 5 Oregon, doesn’t suffice for the 3 million channel surfers in the metro area—not enough to get off the couch anyway.

“It’s too hot.”

“The bathrooms stink.”

“I have to walk up steps and then sit on a bench.”

“It’s too loud.”

“I can’t get tanked.”

“The food is not that good. It’s stale and the hot dogs are not like Diamondback dogs, which are the best in the world. And have you ever tried their nachos? They are so weird!”

Phoenix is a huge city, but as huge cities go, there is little to do here.

Even those fans that have shown up on Saturday don’t seem to want to be there.

What other college programs have “fans” that boo and jeer the home team in the first quarter of the first game of the season?
