Tempe police reported the following incidents Sunday:
- A 22-year-old Scottsdale man was arrested around 10:30 p.m. Sept. 20 on suspicion of possession of marijuana and being in possession of drug paraphernalia, police reported.Police contacted the man after he crashed into a pole on the 6400 block of South McClintock Drive in Tempe, according to a police report.Witnesses told police they saw the man digging around in his car, grab a bag and throw the bag into the yard of a nearby house, police reported.Upon consent of the homeowner, police searched the yard and discovered a tan bag with a name printed on it, according to a report.
Inside of the bag was a usable quantity of marijuana and a scale with marijuana fragments on it, police reported.
When the man’s mother arrived at the scene, she told police the name on the bag was that of the family’s lawyer, according to a report.
The man was booked into Tempe City Jail and released, police reported.
- A 22-year-old Scottsdale man was arrested around 5 p.m. Tuesday on suspicion of aggravated assault, police reported.The man was arrested at Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital, at 1500 S. Mill Ave. in Tempe after spitting on the face of a registered nurse while she was treating him in the emergency room, according to a police report.The nurse told police the man was combative during treatment, and she will aid in prosecution, police reported.The man was booked into Tempe City Jail and held, according to a report.
- A 49-year-old transient man was arrested around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday on suspicion of false reporting, police reported.Police contacted the man after he was witnessed panhandling on Arizona Department of Transportation property near South Price Road and East University Drive in Tempe, according to a police report.The man provided police with a false name, date of birth and social security number because the man knew he had active warrants for his arrest from Tempe, Phoenix and Peoria, police reported.The man was booked into Tempe City Jail, according to a report.
- A 44-year-old Mesa man was arrested around 3 p.m. Friday on suspicion of trafficking stolen property and shoplifting, police reported.The man was seen on camera taking a $400 laptop from a display case on Sept. 18 at Maxit Pawn and Retail, located at 1845 E. Broadway Rd. in Tempe, according to a police report.The man was located on Friday, and admitted to stealing the laptop and selling it the same day for $100 so he could buy food and clothes, police reported.
